The Park

I walk towards a grand old tree,
where dappled light moves playfully.
Her graceful arms stretched out above,
A gentle friend I've come to love.
It takes some time to calm my mind,
Recall the things I've come to find.
Then slowly, like a bug pretending
I relax the fort I've been defending.
The tender, inner part of me,
Panics for a moment, before I'm free
To feel the place I most belong
has been here waiting all along.
And suddenly, a million jewels abound
Nature's gifts lie all around.

  1. Nice poem Katie.
Do you often write poetry? You have a way with words, and this poem is very human.
    Greetings to the family.
