Poem: Prayer for Lost Souls

It has been a very sad week with tragedy being broadcast in the news - the devastating earthquake in Nepal, and the horrific executions of two Australian criminals in Bali whose pleas for mercy went unheard. These stories have affected many people deeply, made us reflect on our own mortality, and given us 'pause for thought' - a greater perspective of what is important and what values we cherish in our society.

Stillness. Disconnect. Open my heart.
Show me the door to the place where Thou Art -
in Heaven. Dimension. Suspension of time.
Beginning and end, life chaos aligned.

Worldly possessions and bodily form,
constraints of the life into which you were born.
Expansion. Ascension. Release as a dove.
Connected to all through the oneness of Love.

The tears of the widow, the mother, the child,
Take away all your sorrow, the heartache confined.
And remember the person, their expression, their spark -
A pearl in the oyster, be proud of their mark.

Breathing in, breathing out.
One last beat of my heart.
Life is never more precious than when we're apart.
So live it,
as if each breath
is your last.
